I don't normally talk about politics but I'm so excited about his inauguration this Tuesday. I'm looking forward to his presidency as he got his job cut out for him. I wish him the best of luck.!!! Smile

Although I did not vote for him I wish him well and hope he can "right the ship"

I hope the party is worth as it is the most expensive inauguration in history!

So much for fiscal responsibility during the worst financial crisis in 50+ years.
Why not though, its a drop in the bucket compared to the money he will throw at the problem. Money that our kids, kids, kids, kids will be paying back. Money they won't be able to spend on cruises!

God Bless him and all of us because it will be a long hard road back.

I live what is normally about a 30 minute drive from the Capitol. You could not pay me enough to fight that crowd and all the security restrictions. I'll either watch it on one of the TV's in the office or on cnn.com streaming video.

I cannot wait to hear my daughter whine about the crowds, etc. Wink They will be leaving their hotel in Winchester, VA at 4:30 AM Tuesday morning and heading for the Metro in Vienna. My daughter thought I was nuts when I predicted it would take 2-3 hours just to get to Vienna, and then another couple of hours to get into downtown DC (and I've already warned her that the "good" Metro stops near The Mall will be shut down on Tuesday). Yeah, she's gonna whine. stickingtongueout

Hey Susan, I have a BA in Political Science also! Not headed to DC though as I will have a better view watching it on television.

Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow so it's TiVo and what I can manage to watch on the internet. I really think it should have been a holiday for the State of Illinois or at the very least the metropolitan Chicago area.

Ah, a "sister in arms" Wink I would've gone if I could've scored tickets ... my knee would not have put up with me standing for hours in the cold ... for me it wouldn't have been about the view, it would've been more about the historical moment. Oh well. My daughter is torturing me, calling every so often to update me on where she is, what she's seen, etc. So far today she's already toured Arlington National Cemetary, visited the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial, Korean Veterans War Memorial, and Lincoln Memorial. When she last called (20-30 mins ago) she was in line for an exhibit in the Smithsonian American History Museum. She'd already been in the museum for 1 1/2 hours and had only made it as far as the second floor. *sigh* Wish I was there.....

Current cost of the the Inauguration is topping 107 million dollars. Half provided by private donors...the rest paid for by you and I! Well I know I am paying I have seen my tax bill for the year!

Ok, no more politics for me...

Ron,

Fiscal responsibility and government ... two words that don't go together ... and some people question why our Forefathers wanted federal government to move at a snail's pace. Wink

Pete,

It would be FUN. I'll argue any side of any issue ... devil's advocate is my favorite pasttime (which really ticks off a few friends who can't see past their own opinons). Razz Oh, and pinning labels on me work as well as nailing jello to a tree. I'm a liberal conservative or conservative liberal, or as my daughter would put it "stubbornly independent with leannings."

Hey, we have a elephant but where's the donkey???

My kind of label! Conservative Liberal or Liberal Conservative.

I might fit into that, I'm a left handed writer but do everything else as a righty.

Bat righty, kick righty and play Hockey as a righty.

Guess that makes me more righty than lefty.

That about sums up my political views also...hum.

I don't care about who is in office, only their policies and how it affects my family. PERIOD.

I have a lot of opinions...but I don't jam them down peoples throats....usually.
It is fun to hear what others think, however.

On forums...nothing starts flames quicker than politics or religion. (except maybe chair hogs or smoking!) I've had to lock up quite a few political cookers in my moderating days! (I locked one today over a bad coffee trade) Laughing Who knew a coffee drinker could get that mean????

Quoting a popular GoGo's hit song...

MY LIPS ARE SEALED! (really it said "Our Lips" but I'll take the liberty to change it to fit the context of the comment)
