I thought I'd start this thread since a lot of you have questions about New York City, and, us locals will do our best to answer your questions.

We are from Upstate NY and get murdered in parking generally paying

$19.00 a day Brooklyn Pierside

Any ideas on how to cut these costs down.

unless you drive over to someone from the area and park in their driveway and split the cost of the lot with them but then you are driving further after a trip from saranac.

Ginny's parents live in Poughkeepsie and we have parked there
before. I can even ride the commuter train for free (I work in Law
Enforcement) but lugging around all that baggage isnt worth it.
Its already a solid 5 hours to drive home from NYC and nearby
parking is a Godsend. I was hoping for a magic parking lot ,but
I knew deep down inside I was waiting for lightning to strike.

We're flying to New York from SFO for the shopping trip in October - which airport should we fly into (easy to get your bags, ground transportation, etc.)

Should we take a taxi from the airport to the hotel - it is the Grand Central Hotel? or a shuttle service?

We are staying 2 extra nights & plan on doing all the tourist stuff - take the subway to Brooklyn (get a "slice" - that sounds so cool as we don't have that here) then walk back to New York - tell me, is that subway as hard to figure out as it looks?

My sister recommended we do a city tour via a boat - a 3 hour tour to see all the sights - we also want to tour Central Park - see Strawberry Fields, etc. - can we do that & the Museum all in a day?

Many thanks!! If you ever come out to California - specifically - San Francisco, ask away!!

Hi Leanna,

I have a question for you or anyone else who has cruised out of Cape Liberty. Is it best to stay pre-cruise in NJ close to the port or in NYC close to Manhattan and the sites of NYC?? If we cruise on the Explorer next year, we hope to spend 2 days doing the tourist thing in NYC and wondered where we should stay??

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

We stayed once at the Rockefeller Center. It is not in Rockefeller Center but just across the street. Small rooms but very nice and quite reasonable for NYC. The location is great.

Look Tina would you please stop this silly charade.I have communicated with Nina via e-mail only to find out that you can not pay for the cruises that you gave away in those bogus contests and that the QM2 bookings from those contests have been cancelled. And also according to an e-mail I had received from one of the other travel agents who conducted an investigation only to find out that Nick Needs To Know,Leanna N who is Nick's wife,Paddy Goes Cruising,Andy The Sailor Man,Down The Shore Guy and a few other characters really don't exist and it is really you posting messages from these fictional people because these fictional people and you,Tina have the same computer IP address. So Tina for your own benefit why don't you please go seek some badly needed PSYCHIATRIC HELP!!!!!! Regards,Jerry who is a very angry former member of this charade called Cruise Freek Forum.Come to think about it Tina is a BIG FREAK HERSELF lol!
